Celebrate World Book Night: How You Can Get Involved

World Book Night – April 23rd, 2025

World Book Night is a celebration of reading and books, taking place this year on Wednesday April 23rd! It’s a chance to share the joy of reading, promote the power of books, and inspire people of all ages to pick up a book. Whether you’re an avid reader or just starting out, World Book Night is the perfect occasion to discover new stories and connect with fellow book lovers.

2aspire is excited to join this national celebration of reading, organised by the Reading Agency, by donating a range of Quick Reads to various venues across the county, including:

  • Night light Cafes in Bourne, Gainsborough, Grantham, Holbeach, Long Sutton, Market Rasen and Spalding
  • HMP North Sea Camp
  • Lincolnshire Action Trust
  • Branston Infants, Hawthorn Tree Primary School and Coningsby Primary School
  • Ermine Library

Why not attend one of the Night Light events on 23rd April to borrow a Quick Read and start your reading journey?

From 7 – 8pm on the same day, join the Reading Agency’s #ReadingHour in celebration of World Book Night. Take your book home or enjoy reading at one of the local cafes. It’s the perfect hour to take a break, focus on yourself, and escape into a book, magazine, comic book, or anything else that captures your interest!

We can all use a break now and then. What are you going to read?

Did you know that 1 in 3 adults (31%) in England don’t regularly read for pleasure, and the figure rises to 1 in 2 (46%) for young people?

The Reading Agency’s annual World Book Night celebrates reading for pleasure and encourages conversations about books, inviting everyone to spend time reading. World Book Night supports the entire reading journey and is accessible for everyone, offering something for everyone, from less-confident readers to those who read regularly. It’s a community celebration that brings people together to share the joy of reading.

Share your reading experience online during #ReadingHour and use #2aspire to join the conversation!

If you can’t make it to one of the locations above, don’t worry, Lincolnshire libraries will also be donating a range of Quick Reads to local food banks. Keep an eye out for these books at your nearest food bank!

Would you like to set up your own reading group?

Lincolnshire Libraries offer a subscription service where groups pay just £40 per year and receive monthly book sets delivered to their local library for collection. Some groups even meet in other local libraries to discuss their latest read. Lincolnshire Libraries can also recommend websites and resources to help you gain insights and ideas for running your group.
